The bakery is part of a long-standing family baking tradition that stretches back nearly a century. Founded in 1929 by David Cavan in nearby Twickenham, the business began as a single neighbourhood bakery built on the principles of traditional craft baking and quality ingredients. Over the decades it has grown into a well-known independent bakery with multiple shops across South West London and Surrey, while remaining rooted in its family-run ethos and artisan approach. Today the company operates from a purpose-built bakery facility in Walton-on-Thames, where time-honoured techniques are combined with modern production to create breads, pastries and cakes for local communities. Guided by the founding belief that “quality tells,” Cavan Bakery continues to focus on handmade products, locally sourced ingredients where possible, and a commitment to supporting the community through responsible sourcing and food-waste reduction initiatives.
